A voice agent exported straight from Retell.ai will not import into Revamp365 as-is. The two files describe the same agent in different layouts, so Import JSON either doesn't recognize the nodes or stops with Agent creation failed. The fix takes about five minutes: give an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar) one file from each side and have it reshape the Retell file to match the Revamp365 one.
What you need
| File | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Your Retell agent as JSON | Your Retell.ai dashboard (use Retell's export option on the agent) |
| Any one Revamp365 voice agent as JSON | AI Voice & Chat → Agents → Actions → Export to JSON (steps below) |
The Revamp365 file is the template. It doesn't matter which agent you export, since the AI only uses it to learn the layout. If you don't have a voice agent yet, create one from a template first (see build an AI voice agent from templates).
Step 1: Export your agent from Retell
In your Retell.ai dashboard, export the agent you want to move (for example, its conversation flow) as a .json file and save it somewhere easy to find.
Step 2: Export one voice agent from Revamp365
- In the left sidebar, click AI Voice & Chat, then open the Agents tab.
- Check the box next to one voice agent.
- Click Actions in the bar above the list, then Export to JSON.
A file named like agents_export_2026-11-03.json downloads.
Step 3: Have your AI assistant reformat the Retell file
Open your AI assistant, attach both files, and paste this prompt:
Reformat the Retell.ai file so it's structured like the Revamp365 file so I can import it into my Revamp365 account. Keep every node, prompt, transition and setting from the Retell agent. Match the Revamp365 file's layout exactly, including that the whole file is a list (it starts with
[and ends with]), and set "agent_type" to "Calling". Give me the result as a downloadable .json file.
Save the file it gives you.
Step 4: Import the reformatted file
- On the Agents tab, click Import JSON.
- Upload: click Choose file and pick the reformatted file, then click Next.
- Preview: check that the name, LLM, voice and node count look right. Leave Import as set to Create new agent (or pick Update existing agent to overwrite an agent you already have). Click Import 1 agent(s).
- Results: you'll see whether the agent was created. Click Done.
Open the new agent and look through the flow before you put it on live calls.
Troubleshooting
- "JSON must be an array of agents": the file isn't wrapped in
[]. Ask your AI assistant to wrap the agent in a list exactly like the Revamp365 export. - The Preview shows the row as skipped: only calling (voice) agents import. Ask the AI to set
"agent_type": "Calling". - Nodes aren't recognized, or "Agent creation failed": the file is still in Retell's layout somewhere. Go back to the same AI chat and say: "The import failed. Compare your output to the Revamp365 file again and match its structure field by field." Then import the new file. If it fails a second time, contact support and attach both original files.
- "File is too large" or "Too many entries": one import takes a file up to 2 MB with at most 50 agents.
After you import
- Phone numbers: numbers don't come over in the file. Connect a number so the agent answers calls: assign an AI voice agent to an inbound number.
- Knowledge base: if your Retell agent used documents, add them again in Revamp365: add knowledge base documents to your AI agent.
- Test it: place a test call to your AI voice agent.
